Two of my favorite novels (other than Pride and Prejudice) are Persuasion (PBS did a good movie of this last year) or Northanger Abbey (There is also a fairly recent movie of this book that I think PBS did as well).
Pride & Prejudice are always good, but I wouldn't mind the new ones kari suggested.
