Blueberry Update

So I got an email from my friend Sue O'Brien, who goes blueberry picking each year and here is the update:

OK, so I know I have encouraged you all to trek out to Apple Hill and pick blueberries, but DON'T GO!!! We were there today, and the farmers apologized profusely for their crop, which is awful this year due to two late frosts in April. (Because of the frost, they said all the blueberry farms at Apple Hill suffered this year.) They let us pick for free... you all know I LOVE free, but it really wasn't even worth it. There are very few good berries, and even the ripe ones are really small this year. Stay home and buy them from Costco or Sam's Club this year, instead. We were a little bummed, but it was still a nice afternoon. We picked up some apple butter at a fruit stand that's open all year, and we have a handful of blueberries each for our cereal tomorrow morning...Hopefully next year will be better! Hope none of you rushed to pick berries this weekend! Take care,Sue
